INSIGHTS ABOUT 2014 NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION

2014 Nutrition Month Celebration: Kalamidad Paghandaan,
Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan

The nutrition month is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored by the National Nutrition Council, also called NNC. The aim of this is to respond to disaster-affected populations.

The Nutrition Month is celebrating with a theme "Kalamidad paghandaan, Gutom at malnutrisyon agapan" this 2014. This was approved last March 26,2014.

The theme of this year's celebration of Nutrition Month tells about the importance of being prepared to any kind of calamity and the prevention of hunger and malnutrition. This helps diminish the impact of calamities and disasters.

Our school conducted activities which helped the students be prepared. After joining some of the activities of the school, it was an honor joining on those kinds of activities. I learned a lot, specially being healthy. As by the saying "Health is Wealth," our health is very precious to us. It's more than the price of a gold because we only live once. From now on, I'm going to take good care of my own health.

REACTION ABOUT PNOY's 5TH SONA

President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III: My 5th State
of the Nation Address

When you're a president, delivering a "State of the Nation Address," also abbreviated as SONA, is troublesome. The SONA is delivered every year and talks about the status of the country. Did you know that there have been already 76 SONAs delivered? Yes. Last July 28, 2014, was President Benigno Aquino III delivered an emotional State of the Nation Address. As expected, there were still people who disagreed the President's SONA. But, as of for me, Ill give a thumbs up for President Aquino II. It's not because I was pitied, but because his SONA inspired me as a Filipino.

For me, the SONA of President Aquino III woke me up. From there, I saw an image. An eternally life- changing image. I saw a paper burning. The paper represents our country while the fire represents the chaos and problems that we are suffering right now. There I saw dreams burned down to ashes. We were once called the "Sick Man of Asia" but now, they're making the road straight again.

The SONA of the President was astounding. It was like there was an alarm clock alarming so loud that it woke up my real me. If i could do my best, maybe I could change our country even just an inch. I'm proud to say that I am a product of this country. After all, everything the President did was no joke but it's not yet complete. So we'll be expecting more actions on Mr. President's moves.

REFLECTION

The Reflection of Mine

I really gained a lot of knowledge in our lessons in ICT specially blogging. Blogging is the coolest lesson that I've learned. The first time I heard the word "blogging" was like "What on Earth is blogging!?" Then, I knew that we can share our opinions and also read others' reaction on a particular topic.

During our lesson in blogging, there were parts of it that made me confused. From creating a google mail account to creating and posting a blog, struggling struck me down. I don't know what to click and what to type. In short, I really don't know what to do.

From there, I got motivated. I asked for assistance. After I successfully created my own g-mail account, fire was starting to get hot, I was mastering and familiarizing all pars of blogging. I started searching everything and tested it to see how it works.

I have to keep moving forward in mastering and familiarizing all about blogging. I will do my best in learning more in order for me to achieve a very high goal.

A Letter to the President

The Respected Benigno Simeon Aquino III
Republic of the Philippines

Dear Mr. President,
I'm Andrei Miguel. I am a student of Ilocos Sur National High School. Today I am writing you an issue regarding to the protection of the Philippines when facing severe weather conditions.

This came up to my mind immediately after hearing the news that the people in Tacloban suffered severely in the typhoon, Yolanda. A lot of houses were destroyed and the supplies and products were minimized. Even worse, a lot of people lost and died during the typhoon. All of these made me questioned myself. I hope that there will be solution this problem.

The issue is about dealing with severe weather condition which includes typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. I have some suggestions in dealing with these phenomenas. First, we should identify the weakness and lacking of the area. Therefore, we can easily provide the materials, equipment and facilities in order to strengthen the condition or defense of that certain area. Second, conduct conferences or seminars. With this, we can enhance the knowledge of the Filipinos and we can improve their movements like making them more alert than before.

Mr. President, thank you for taking your time reading my letter to you. Dealing with these kinds of situations may consume a lot of work. I hope that you will make some actions regarding to this problem.

                                                                                                                                                                                                   Yours truly,                                                                                                   Andrei Miguel P.
